just a comment i'd put into an artists submission

Thu Jun 17, 2004, 1:47 PM
i really think this comment says it all... and i also think it applies to many more artists on here than just the ones who are explicitly mentioned.

amazingly simple and yet, sublimely deep at the same time. which of us can still remember the intense burst of happiness that a box of chalk and an empty sidewalk or driveway or wall brought us in our childhood. i think we all long for a day when those simple pleasures are more universal, and less hunger and hate and worries of the world eat at our ability to enjoy life. the secret is, though, that we don't HAVE to wait. happiness is a choice. the world wasn't particularly LESS complicated in those chalky days long (or not so long) ago. it was a matter of perspective. children have some of the purest hearts and clearest perspectives at times. they can still see that it is the moment that matters, and enjoyment of it is key to happiness.

as we grow, we develop the ability to think ahead and behind, and leave the moment, where we lived entirely in our early years. this, in and of itself, is not a bad thing. however, it is all too easy for us to let the hidden potholes and looming consequences of tomorrow rule our todays. when we give up control of our todays to our own future, we interfere with our ability to immerse ourselves in that sublime, "chalky" happiness that resonates our souls and sings its songs through pure and happy hearts.

for me, works like Happiness by coolksj, Pay It Forward, the songs of Jungle Logic or Evanescence, the compositions of Beethoven or Tchaichovsky, books by Heinlein or other science fiction authors, performances by Joshua Groban or Clay Aiken, even listening to my boyfriend sing in his crystal voice... all of these amazing gifts allow me to escape the future and rest entirely in the moment. It is my hope that artists like coolksj, jark, liquisoft, hameed, shirosynth, paulscha, and blarg (to name a few) will continue to create pieces that hold us in the moment.

I don't get it. You have one deviation up and you still have this same amount of views as I do. How come?

Life is wind. It seems strong sometimes, and you just want to escape from it. But when it is still, its the only thing you wish for.
